CLASS POLICIES

How to Register.

New customers can register in person or by downloading a form from our website. Your registration is not complete until Curiosity Zone has received all paperwork & required payment. Registration is subject to availability.

Payment.

Registration and membership fees are payable in full at the time of registration, unless otherwise noted.

Registration Fee.

A non-refundable annual registration fee of $35 is required for class enrollment.  The registration fee includes a free Family Membership that entitles you to sibling discounts, a 10% discount on toys, priority party registration, and special offers throughout the year.  Membership runs for one year from the date you pay your registration fee.

Sibling Discounts.

For each additional sibling registered in the same or similar class in the same session, the following discounts will be applied: Second Child: 5%. Third+ Child: 10%.

Refunds.

·         Math Lab and single sessions of Big Lab and Little Lab:  Class tuition is fully refundable until the end of the first day of class. No refunds after the first day of class.

·         Advanced Science,  and 1 or 2 year Big Lab/Little Lab programs:  Tuition is refundable until the end of the first day of class.  Thereafter, prorated tuition refunds will be made, less the $75 deposit.

·         Summer Camp: Tuition is refundable until June 1, 2009, less a $75 administrative fee.  No camp refunds after June 1.  However, store credit (less the $75 admin. fee) will be issued if enrollment is cancelled 2 or more weeks prior to the camp.  Moving between summer camps 2 weeks or less prior to camp will result in a $75 administrative fee.

·         Holiday & Spring Break Camps:  Tuition is non-refundable.  However, moving between camps two or more weeks prior to camp is permitted.

·         Registration fees are not refundable after the first day of class.

Makeup Classes; No Makeups for Camps.

We will always do our best to reschedule your child for a makeup class, subject to space availability. Missed classes should be made up in the same week, as the lesson changes each week. Classes can also be made up in other courses (e.g., music or math), subject to availability. Please call ahead to make arrangements. Makeup classes can’t be carried over from term to term or “saved up” to use as a credit.

Because the activities in our camps are different each day, we cannot schedule camp make-ups.

2008-09 Semester Schedule.

Fall Semester (20 wks): Sept. 2- Jan. 30.
Spring Semester (20 wks): Feb. 2-June 19.
No regularly scheduled classes on: Labor Day, Nov. 24-28 (Thanksgiving week*), Dec. 29-Jan. 2 (Christmas holiday week*), Memorial Day and July 4th.
*No makeup classes required for these weeks; already accounted for in the schedule.

Weather Policy.

In case of inclement weather, the C-Zone may cancel classes if, in its sole discretion, it believes road conditions present a hazard to its customers and employees. All cancellations will be announced on our website and on our store phone at 703-723-9949 as soon as the decision has been made. We will make every effort to schedule makeup classes for classes cancelled due to bad weather.

Sick Kids.

We reserve the right to send home any child with a fever or who otherwise appears to be infectious.

Changes & Cancellations.

Class activities and take-home materials may vary slightly from those advertised. We reserve the right to cancel or modify classes or faculty.

Drop-off and Pick-up.

A responsible adult must sign your child in and out of class/camp each day. Regardless of the time of sign-in, parents remain responsible for their child until the beginning of class (unless the child is enrolled in C-Zone child care). Children must be signed out within 10 minutes of the end class/camp. Parents will be assessed a late pick-up fee of $15 per child for every 15 minute interval thereafter until the child is picked up.

Class Observation.

We invite you to relax in our comfy lounge area while your child is in class. Children who are not attending a class must be attended by a responsible adult at all times. We cannot take responsibility for children left unattended.

Infants.

Infants under 6 months of age may come to class with a parent attending with a toddler, provided the infant is confined and does not present a safety risk or disrupt the class. No strollers please, as space in the lab is limited. All other children in the classroom must be enrolled.

Classroom Etiquette.

To ensure the enjoyment of class by everyone, we ask that you please follow our rules of classroom etiquette:

• Please keep adult conversations to a minimum.

• In caregiver attended classes, please remain within arms-length of your child at all time.

• If your child needs you during a gradual separation class, please be as discreet as possible.

• Only one caregiver per child per class.

• If your child becomes upset during class, please step outside and return when your child feels better.

Food Allergy Awareness.

The C-Zone recognizes that many children suffer from life-threatening peanut allergies. In the interest of minimizing the risk to our little customers, we ask that you please not bring peanuts, nuts or foods containing nut ingredients onto the premises.

Medical Needs.

The C-Zone cannot store or administer medicines to kids.

Contact Information.

It is the responsibility of the primary member to ensure that the C-Zone has the most up-to-date contact and emergency information.
