CAMP DESCRIPTIONS

SECRET SPIES

NEW!  By popular demand, we have found a way to add a limited one-week run of our Secret Spy Camp for this summer!  New mysteries, disguises, secret codes, cool tricks, spy gadgets and more. If you haven’t done this camp yet, it is a must: set laser trip wires, scramble your voice, spy with rearview sunglasses, set booby traps, listen through walls, see in the dark, dust for fingerprints and so much more as you investigate and solve mysteries.

Educational value:  chemistry, physics, engineering, biology and forensics.

Take-homes: a complete spy gadget and disguise kit!

All-day Campers: Secret Spy camp activities PLUS field trips to: 1) Udvar-Hazy Museum, 2) Laser Tag, 3) Great Country Farms, 4) Ida Lee Park and 5) Trailside Park.

VOLCANOS & DINOS

This camp is similar to our sold-out 2008 Volcano Island summer camp, but with a new island filled with dinosaurs, pirates and lots of new mysteries and games! Kids will adopt a pet to care for while on the island, and must avoid the pirates and dinosaurs to solve the ancient mysteries of the island. Kids will compete for prizes in races and games; build forts; search for dinosaurs; make seashell gadgets; dig for dino bones; explore volcanoes; cook in solar ovens and lots more!

Educational value: creative thinking, design, geology, paleontology, physics, life sciences, astronomy and chemistry.

Take homes: adventure gear to continue exploring all summer.

CRAFTY BUSINESS

Spend the week making potions and cool art projects, with a twist: after we design and make our own chalk, playdough, bouncy balls, floam, fizzy bath bombs, metal cleaner, ice cream and more – we will learn how to market and sell what we’ve made! Educational value: creative thinking, design, teamwork, chemistry, physics, math, economics. Take homes: materials to start a business/play store at home.

• Specifics for Younger Kids (ages 4-6): Create potions and crafts, name them, package them and play store! We will learn a skit to perform as a “commercial” for the grand opening of our store on graduation day.

• Specifics for Older Kids (ages 6-10): Create potions and crafts, then start your own summer business. Create a name/tagline, logo, business cards, fliers and signs. Design packaging and produce product samples. Write and act out a commercial. Design and build your own storefront, then sell your product on graduation day!

Design and build your own city, then make a movie! Learn to build your own spaceships, bridges, boats, buildings, robots and other cool inventions using Legos™ and other building materials. Kids will work together to solve design challenges each day as we create an entire city on Mars. We will then write stories about what happens in our city and create a stop-action Lego animation to premiere on the last day of camp!

Educational value: creative thinking, design, teamwork, engineering, physics, math.
