Jr. Advanced Science  2nd-3rd grade  All new labs for 2011-12.

Taught by Miss Angela, our Director of Education and a degreed scientist, this full-year class offers our more advanced students four challenging labs, each culminating in an independent science project. This year’s labs are:

• Chemistry:  Explore various chemical reactions and their ability to generate colors, gases, and alternative sources of energy. 

• Physics:  Explore electricity and circuits; build battery-powered and solar-powered cars; explore alternative fuels; experiment with a hydrogen fuel cell car.

• Life Science:  Explore plant biology.  Experiment with plant growth; explore hydroponics; create a greenhouse.

• Earth Science:  Explore paleontology.  Study dinosaurs and real fossils.  Learn to identify and excavate animal and plant fossils.

Advanced Science  4rd-5th grade  by application only  All new labs for 2011-12.

Taught by Miss Angela, our Director of Education and a degreed scientist, this full-year class is designed for kids who have completed our other programs or who can demonstrate similar science proficiency. The curriculum for this year follows the same thematic outline as Jr. Advanced Science, but employs more difficult techniques and places greater emphasis on independent study.
