MARY PORTER GREEN,
C-ZONE FOUNDER & PRESIDENT

Mary Porter Green is Founder and President of Curiosity Zone, Co-founder of Ever Wonder Records, and a frequently sought speaker on the topics of curiosity and innovative thinking.  Mary wonders about everything, and puts her child-like sensibility into all that she does.

A product of Fairfax County Public Schools and their challenging programs for gifted kids, Mary was inspired to create Curiosity Zone so that the same type of gifted programming would be available to all kids.  Though Curiosity Zone programs have a specific science focus, they also focus on the innovative, creative, higher-level thinking skills that kids are exposed to in gifted programs -- which are keys to success in science and technology in the 21st century.

Mary’s previous work experience includes practicing law in the areas of securities and antitrust litigation; creation, design and build of an $18 million website project for a publicly traded Internet company; extensive writing projects; and consulting work in the area of market research and product development.

Mary was named Loudoun County’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2005.  She has served on Loudoun County’s Economic Development Commission since 2008 and on the Board of Advisors for the Florida Virtual School since 2009.  Though Curiosity Zone currently has only one location, she dreams of a day when kids from coast to coast will be up to their elbows in hands-on science.

Mary was a Virginia Scholar and Echols Scholar at the University of Virginia and graduated Phi Beta Kappa.  She also received her law degree from the University of Virginia, where she was an editor of the Virginia Law Review.  Mary lives in Leesburg, Virginia with her husband, two stepchildren, two dogs and a hamster.  The kitchen is rarely clean, muddy tracks are common, and there is always something curious (and often alive) on the counter.  Read Mary's blog now.

More about Mary's presentations on curiosity and innovation:

"I heard several positive comments throughout the day about your presentation. I simply want to reiterate how glad I am you accepted our invitation. You really did a nice job tying together United Way and curiosity. You will be as pleased as we are with the Free Lance-Star article that appeared in today's edition, front page Region section. [We] think the article is one of the best [they have] written about Rappahannock United Way."   -- Stephen Batsche, President, Rappahannock United Way, Inc.

"Mary Porter possesses the rare ability to engage an audience and deliver meaningful content that inspires people to act. As a speaker, it is far easier to amuse then to educate an audience. Mary Porter is the rare speaker who can do both and the results are simply outstanding. Captivating, inspiring and impactful are descriptors that truly signify a successful speaker. Simply put, Mary Porter is that person."  -- Joe Watson, National TV Commentator and Author of "Without Excuses"

“I love the way Mary combines a childlike sense of joy and curiosity together with her very grown-up business savvy in all her presentations.  You simply can't do better.” – Robin Suomi, Executive Director, Loudoun SBDC
