PUFFY PAINT   more experiments

Materials: washable school glue, foaming shaving cream, paint brush, paper, food coloring (optional)..

Procedure: mix equal parts school glue and foaming shaving cream into a cup.  Add food coloring to achieve the desired color (if any).  Paint onto your paper; when it dries, the paint will retain its puffy appearance!

The Science:  Puffy paint is a solution made by dissolving shaving cream into glue. In solutions (as opposed to mixtures, like granola cereal), the ingredients are difficult to separate back out. Other examples are ketchup (it's difficult to get the tomatoes and vinegar to separate) and Koolaid (it's difficult to get the Koolaid powder back out of the water once dissolved).  This is chemistry!
