SNACK MIX more experimentsMaterials:cheerios goldfish crackers raisins granola (we use nut-free) M&Ms marshmallows pretzels or whatever else you like to eat!
Procedure: Mix together your favorite food items to make your own snack mix! Be sure to give it a funny name, and make up an interesting package for it. How much do you think a bag of your snack mix would sell for?
The Science:
Mixtures, unlike solutions, have parts that can be easily separated out again (e.g., you can pull out the marshmallows, M&Ms, etc.) In a solution, like lemonade, once the drink mix solids are dissolved in water, you have to wait for the water to evaporate before you can separate the solids back out.
